Rustic Sophistication Master Suite

A South St. Louis County couple nearing their retirement years wanted to update key parts of the home they’ve lived in for 30 years. A top priority was having a light-filled master suite with a larger bathroom. They had spent the better part of a year investigating and choosing materials for the remodel, and engaged Mosby to help bring the project to life.

By adding a 3-foot deep cantilevered bump out to the rear wall of the master suite, the bedroom gains not only floor space but additional windows that perfectly frame a cozy seating area. This also adds precious square footage to the bathroom, allowing for a soaker tub with an onyx deck plus a generous walk-in shower with bench seating.

Enchanting features of the rustic-yet-sophisticated master suite include a wood-look porcelain tile flooring in both the bedroom and bathroom is also the shower surround; and the owner re-purposed a door as a sliding “barn door” as well as a kitchen cabinet refinished to create an angled bathroom vanity.
