Fabulous Main Floor Transformation

Mosby always strives to exceed clients’ expectations. If homeowner satisfaction is an indication of a job well done, then we knocked it out of the park!  The homeowners are thrilled with their all-new first floor remodel. They are in love and say it is “SO them”. Mosby accomplished this by really getting to know the homeowners’ unique ideas and personalities and giving them the home of their dreams.

Project Details

This big blended family purchased a home that was built in the 1980’s and needed quite a bit of updating. The main floor was dark and dreary and did not serve their needs well. And it certainly did not have the flair they had hoped for. Their top requests were an open floor plan, better lighting, and more space to entertain their friends and family.

The original staircase leading to the second floor was built back in the 1980’s and was at a dangerously steep incline. Not only was it unsafe, but it was not up to current codes. So plans were made to reconfigure the staircase by creating a landing and a 90-degree turn. This turn created a much more welcoming entrance that includes a beautiful chandelier and display wall for their art. The clients were amazed that a new staircase and all new windows on the main floor could have such a great impact in the home.

The original kitchen had a traditional U-shaped layout with a peninsula that separated the main kitchen from the dining room. The project included a full remodel of the entire space with plans of combining the main kitchen with the dining room. We were able to remove some of the walls to open up the space, and relocate the bathroom to maximize the dining room capacity. The selections made for the powder room were thought out carefully. An oversized glass tile was selected and hung vertically to give the illusion of more height. To up the glitz factor, a crystal chandelier was chosen along with crystal knobs for the vanity.

Every last detail was thought of in the kitchen as well, from the dual-colored greige cabinets down to the Kitchen Aid mixer stand. The cabinetry has a pull-out spice rack and tray organizer, a lift door appliance garage at the diagonal corner, double-stacked utensil drawer and a custom fit cutlery tray. Their prized Kitchen Aid mixer got its very own pop-up shelf, so no more lifting required to take it on and off of the countertops. The final touch was the room “jewelry”, the lighting. Mosby designer Tanya Yaacoub helped the homeowner find the perfect gold pendants and unique chandelier that were just the right amount of sophistication and glamour the homeowner wanted.
