Farmhouse Dream Come True

One of Mosby’s core values is Teamwork, and it was definitely all hands on deck for this whole home transformation! A Wildwood, MO family fell in love with a property that had everything they wanted; perfect location, beautiful views, guest house, and horse stables. The only shortfall was that the home didn’t quite live up to the vision they had in their minds. So Mosby Building Arts worked side by side with the homeowners to plan, design and recreate an entirely new space. No part of the home was left untouched. Remodeled areas in the main home included: kitchen, dining room, laundry room, great room, four bedrooms, and four bathrooms. The carriage house got a makeover as well, with a brand new kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom. Even the exterior was updated to match the new interior; new siding, windows, and doors were installed, and garage, barn, and pool were touched up. The new home is an elegant farmhouse style, with modern, personal touches throughout. Everywhere you look is absolutely stunning and a true vision of everything the family stands for. Project Details

The homeowners had an overall good grasp on the style they wanted to execute, which included a combination of farmhouse, contemporary and industrial. The remodeling project included an update of some form to every room of the house, as well as converting the garage to a new master suite, and a full remodel of the carriage house. The carriage house had been converted to living space at some point during the property’s long history and needed a refresh. The homeowners planned on using the carriage house for family that came in town to stay.

There were challenges along the way. The kitchen had a structural vertical post that caused obstruction and was ultimately removed and replaced with a new horizontal structural beam. In the dining and living room areas, reclaimed wood beams from a farm in Ohio were brought in and placed on the dining room and living room ceilings. The beams were extremely heavy requiring multiple workers to lift and install them. They also used reclaimed wood for one of the kitchen walls which accented the newly white kitchen. Little touches like farm-animal shaped cabinet knobs and chicken-wire light covers were installed as a tie in with the home’s farmhouse history. Mosby was able to deliver the functional and style needs of the homeowners, creating a design that honors the history of the house while expanding the available living space.
