The internet is full of savvy ideas for remodeling, redecoration, and renovating your home. Two sites we love, Pinterest and Houzz, are visual in nature and allow users to collect photos and link to products they like. Upon signing up for one of these social accounts, users create their own pinboards and can follow the pinboards of other people whom they find interesting.

These creative ideas can become very useful when it comes to planning a home remodeling project. Once you start saving pins and ideas, you can organize your them based on the kind of remodel you are considering. Steer away from creating broad boards in nature, like kitchen remodel or bathroom design, because when you go back to look at your saved ideas you may be overwhelmed or forget exactly what you liked about that particular room. Instead, save ideas to boards specific to your project, like cabinets, backsplash, paint colors, mudroom cubbies, etc. Cataloging your ideas like this will not only keep you organized, it will make it easier to share with your designer when it’s time to plan. We usually find that saving at least five ideas from each category is a good starting point. An idea board is also helpful when it comes to defining your style. Often when we talk to homeowners, they don’t think they have a particular design style. But after sharing their ideas or boards, our designers can see a common thread and pull together elements that reflect their tastes. We encourage you to share these ideas with your significant other to see what other ideas it may spark. And you can make sure you’re both on the same page, which is sometimes easier said than done!

As always, the Mosby Building Arts Facebook, Pinterest, Houzz, and website project galleries are great resources to find good remodeling inspiration. You can also attend one of our upcoming seminars for remodeling ideas. A Mosby designer will gladly sit down and look at the ideas you’ve saved and help bring those ideas to life.
