Electric heat for floors are still custom laid into the thin set mortar bed prior to the ceramic tile installation, or in a liquid-set under layment material under carpet floors. There is no economical mat that is any less costly than the laid up custom material. Spaces are so different and the electrician time/expense is the same regardless of the complexity of floor layout. And it is really nice …. probably the thing I appreciate most in my house is the non-shocking cold floor in the winter.
