These masonry leaks that deteriorate plaster and paint are sometimes very difficult to eliminate. They usually require an on-site visit to see all that is happening. Sometimes these “leaks” are condensation from cold spots on the brick that “show” by moisture condensing on the plaster from inside the house. The result appears to be a leak but may be from a cold wall and condensation from inside the house. These wet spots that deteriorate plaster on walls and ceilings are very difficult to assess the problem and eliminate. They usually require an on-site visit to see what is happening. Sometimes these “leaks” are condensation from cold spots on the brick wall that show up by moisture condensing on the plaster from inside the house. The result appears to be a leak but may be from a cold wall and condensation from inside the house. This is typically outside the type of work performed by roofers and tuck pointers and requires some real understanding to identify the problem/s.
