Mosby Building Arts Designer
At Mosby, we love to discover new products that will inspire our remodeling clients. The best place to find the latest and greatest is at the yearly Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS). This year I attended KBIS in Las Vegas with my fellow Mosby designers Jill Worobec and Becky Trent. We loved hundreds of new items, but there were several that all three of us agreed were the most exciting or intriguing, and really hope we get a chance to use them in upcoming home remodeling projects. These are our Top 10 favorite new inspirations and discoveries:
1. LG Hausys Tech Top
Imagine a beautiful quartz countertop in your kitchen that also wirelessly charges your phone simply by setting it down on the counter. It’s all true because wireless charging technology is embedded into the surface material, and the countertop choices that have this technology are genuinely attractive – I’d love to have them in my house.
Why Mosby loves it: This is double-duty technology – it looks great and relieves the stress of worrying about your phone dying. It also frees you from all those cords and gadgets. This is a game changer. Learn more about it here.
2. Walker Zanger Sterling Row Tile
Above is a few examples of the new line of tile patterns from Walker Zanger inspired by tailored menswear. These are porcelain and marble tiles with a wood look in a neutral color pallet of whites, grays and blacks.
Why Mosby loves it: We love the idea of mixing masculine patterns for a dapper touch. These are for homeowners who aren’t drawn to feminine details or floral patterns, and will look amazing in rooms shared by men and women.
3. Coastal Shower Doors’ Gridscape Series
Historically, shower doors are an area of limited design options. The Gridscape (shown above) is a bold take on an important shower design feature. Inspired by windowpane, it gives the bathroom a fresh new focal point, and comes as a hinged door, stand-alone shower panel, sliding door or folding partitions. There’s’ even outdoor shower applications.
Why Mosby loves it: We’re excited to have new selection options for shower doors, especially great design solution like this. It will look fantastic with minimalistic or solid color tile, and is perfect for a modern shower space.
4. ROHL’s Michael Berman Graceline Faucet
ROHL designer Michael Berman has a new line of bathroom faucets inspired by luxury ocean liners of the 1920s and ‘30s. Choose from lever or dial-shaped handles with thumb depressions and knurling banded escutcheons. If you don’t know what that means, just ask us – we can’t wait to talk with you about it!
Why Mosby loves it: These faucets are perfect for master bathrooms looking to add some glamour. The satin gold finish is very similar to the rose gold jewelry that’s popular now, which adds warmth to the industrial detailing.
5. Formica’s Jonathan Adler Laminate Collection
Jonathan Adler is an iconic potter and designer with fun and compelling takes on Retro Chic. Working with the equally iconic Formica, Adler has created an affordable and durable line of laminates with twists on the classic Linen, Malachite and Greek Key patterns.
Why Mosby loves it: These Adler patterns and colors bring smiles to all who see them. We can see these in a mudroom, children’s playroom, laundry room or craft room where you’d welcome a fun punch of color and pattern.
6. GE Café Series Refrigerator with Keurig Brewing System
A new GE refrigerator made in the U.S.A that delivers fresh, filtered water every time now has a hot water dispenser that houses a Keurig K-cup brewer. See the video above for a demonstration.
Why Mosby loves it: We are totally on board with appliances that offer more than one feature, and adding the Keurig brewer frees up valuable counterspace. A multi-tasking refrigerator from a trusted brand – what’s not to love?
7. Caesarstone in Raw Concrete
The popular quartz manufacturer has a new line of colors and finishes that deliver the look and feel of fine concrete with the durability and ease of maintenance of engineered quartz. It has a matte textured finish that never requires sealing, and is very easy to clean.
Why Mosby loves it: This is the perfect countertop for the modern industrial chic kitchen or bath décor, and ties in nicely with the popular gray/neutral color schemes we’re seeing this year. We also like to specify products that are beautiful and long-lasting – and here it is!
8. The Wine Knot from Kessick Wine Cellars
We were immediately taken by a unique and contemporary way to present and store wine – wall mounted! The Wine Knot is a panel in configurations of 9 on up that securely holds the neck of a wine bottle and allows you to position it so the label is easy to see. Learn more about it here.
Why Mosby loves it: The streamline wall mount design is very modern, doesn’t require a lot of space, and let’s you turn your wine collection into art. Cheers to that!
9. Emtek Colored Crystal Knobs
The new collection of crystal cabinet knobs from Emtek moves beyond clear to rich colors like cyan, tangelo, emerald and black. They also offer more bold, geometric profiles, perfect for the contemporary home.
Why Mosby loves it: It’s exciting to see new cabinet hardware colors on the market. This is the easiest, budget-friendly way to add a pop of color if you have neutral cabinetry, tile or countertops.
10. Rustica Hardware Sliding Doors
We admire Rustica Hardware for their superior craftsmanship of doors made in the U.S.A. of renewable and recycled materials. Their new doors give you even more design options than before while maintaining their quality.
Why Mosby loves it: You can create a focal point while adding functionality and freeing up floor space with a sliding track door. If you’re looking to create the ever-popular modern rustic, chic or farmhouse looks – get this product!
