CAPS is a national certified training test for design and installation of universal features in homes. Universal design are buzz words for making a home or space easy to live in and use regardless of physical capabilities. CAPS – which is the acronym for Certified Aging in Place Specialist – is jointly sponsored by American Association for Retired Persons (AARP), and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) to bring features to consumers that allow people to remain in their homes as long as they choose.

This involves designing functional kitchens, bathrooms, showers and spaces for wheel chairs, walkers limited mobilities. Mosby Building Arts has two CAPS-certified designers on staff to design special features. I am the 2006 national CAPS of the Year, an honor I was unaware of until notified that I won. I am proud to promote the ability for people to change their homes so they are comfortable, functional and safe to live in. We have helped many homeowners transform their homes to meet their changing needs.
