When it comes to home remodeling, people often overlook their master bathroom. You start and end your day there, so it should be a space you feel relaxed in and happy about. Our clients who are empty nesters wanted to makeover their master bedroom and bathroom to add more space. They had a wish list, and we helped them create the bathroom of their dreams!

The clients’ master bedroom was located across from their kitchen and under the stairs. We were able to double the size of their current master bedroom and relocate it for better use of space and flow for the home. We added a door from the bedroom to their deck, where they can now sit and enjoy a nice cup of morning coffee. Off of the kitchen where the master bedroom previously was, we created a dedicated powder room for guests to use. Then we added space off the bedroom for a new master bathroom including a large, organized walk-in closet.

The master bathroom features his and her sinks, a large soaking tub, and large walk-in shower with his and hers shower heads. The double vanity features Showplace cabinetry featuring the color Flagstone on a maple finish. The vanity top is Onyx in a matte finish featuring the color Blizzard. The accent strip of tile used throughout the bathroom is a porcelain tile called Jewel Sea. We also used onyx for the shower base in Matte Dove and Matte Blizzard for the shower walls. The same accent strip used in the shower is also used behind the sink/faucets and around the tub. The bathroom flooring is a ceramic tile called Light Smoke.

A large, rectangular mirror framed in wood does a nice job of reflecting light to give the impression of an even larger space. There are many styles, sizes and shape options from which to choose. A common approach is to make the mirror exactly as wide as the vanity so the two line up perfectly. Of course, you may not happen to find a pre-made mirror in the exact width of your vanity, so like our client, you may decide to customize for your exact dimensions.

The master closet features a large island with several drawers for storage galore. We added various sizes of hanging storage, plus shoe storage and a small stackable washer and dryer. This ensures the laundry will remain in the master bathroom/closet area eliminating that clutter of several baskets on the main level. Closet flooring is hardwood stained to match existing flooring in the rest of the home. The transition of these two floors and colors compliment each other perfectly.
