Spring Into Action: Time for Seasonal Home Maintenance

As the weather warms and the days get longer, it’s time to give your home the attention it needs to ensure everything is running smoothly. Spring is the perfect time to take care of maintenance tasks that will help keep things in tip-top shape and prevent bigger, more costly problems down the line. By staying ahead of these essential maintenance tasks, you can save yourself time, stress, and money as the year progresses.  

Exterior Maintenance:

INSPECT THE ROOF

• Look for missing, damaged, or loose shingles.
• Check for signs of moss or algae buildup.
• Clean gutters and downspouts.

CLEAN WINDOWS & SCREENS

• Wash windows inside and out.
• Repair/replace any damaged window screens.

INSPECT SIDING

• Check for cracks or damage to your siding.

INSPECT LANDSCAPING

• Change the batteries and test alarms to ensure they are working.

CHANGE AIR FILTERS

• Replace HVAC filters to improve air quality and efficiency.

SERVICE AIR CONDITIONING

• Schedule a professional tune-up.
• Clean vents and remove any dust buildup.

CHECK PLUMBING

• Inspect pipes for leaks, especially in areas prone to freezing. 
• Test faucets and showers for proper water flow and pressure.

CHECK INSULATION

• Inspect attic insulation for damage.
• Look for drafts around windows and doors.

INSPECT APPLIANCES

• Check refrigerators, dishwashers, and washing machines for proper functioning.
• Clean dryer vents to reduce the risk of fire.

CLEAN KITCHEN EXHAUST FAN

• Clean grease buildup from your kitchen range hood and vent.

Safety & Emergency Preparedness:

INSPECT FIRE EXTINGUISHERS

• Check expiration dates and ensure they are easily accessible.

REVIEW EMERGENCY KIT

• Restock missing supplies – water, flashlights, batteries, first-aid kit, etc.

CHECK OUTDOOR LIGHTING

• Inspect outdoor lights for functionality.
• Replace bulbs so pathways are well lit.

• Ensure tools are in good condition.
