Updating your home should be a fun and exciting process, but the thought of remodeling can be daunting. From whole home facelifts to small weekend projects, there are many ways to refresh and update your home. Keep reading to find out what is trending so far for 2018.

Update Your Kitchen

While a kitchen remodel may be a large investment for you, make sure you don’t cut corners. Most people are adding functional details that make cooking and entertaining much easier on them such as pull-out spice drawers, pot & pan holders, and small appliance storage.

New Windows and Doors

Energy efficient windows and doors will help keep your home comfortable during the hot and cold St. Louis, MO months. Make sure your seals are not broken in your windows, and there are no gaps around your doors. Choosing a double or triple pane glass for your windows will ensure all the cool or warm air stays inside the home.

Statement Pieces

With one of our recent bathroom remodels our client requested a shabby chic bathroom sink. We fabricated an old cedar block wood beam from a house in Frontenac, MO. The beam was dated back to 1890. The wood was then sanded down and re-stained to match the rest of the bathroom.

Open The Floor Plan

When you’re entertaining family and friends in your home, do you ever find a few of your walls in the way, wishing you could walk through them? A lot of homeowners are taking down walls to open up the space of their homes and create an open floor plan.

Smart Technology

Technology has entered the home in full force and not just in the form of appliances. Today, you can add technology into the kitchen, bathroom, and other areas of the home. Can you imagine setting the temperature of your shower with a timer and the shower turning on to your exact temperature prior to you getting out of bed? It’s totally possible and glorious!

Kitchen Islands

Kitchen islands are no longer something to squeeze into the space. They have become large focal points and the heart of the kitchen. One of the trends is toward larger sized islands. The kitchen island is meant to create an impact, and its design must make a huge statement. In 2018 large kitchen islands will have storage and be outfitted with various under-counter appliances, while also providing a seating area.
