Home is where the heart is for one University City couple. They love everything about the mid-century modern home where they have resided for eight years. However, with plans to stay in their home as long as possible, they knew the time had come to give their dated bathrooms an accessible makeover. Mosby Building Arts had done a wonderful job remodeling the kitchen a few years prior, so the couple knew they would be the perfect company for the bathroom projects. Mosby Designers Jake Spurgeon, AKDB, CAPS and Jenn Lewis were excited to modernize the spaces while keeping the true mid-century essence.

The main objective of the master bathroom remodel was to make the space easier to navigate as the couple grew older. The existing shower was removed and replaced with a walk-in shower featuring a shower seat and grab bars to make getting in and out of the shower easier. The seat in the shower holds up to 400 pounds, so while it looks small, it’s very secure. Dark floating cabinets and a beautiful onyx countertop offer plenty of storage and working surface area. Accent lighting and a heated floor are the icing on the cake.

The homeowners wanted to have a tub somewhere in the home, so the smaller hall bathroom was given a modern tub/shower combination with plenty of grab bars. A glass wall gives the small bathroom an open feel and the toilet was relocated to a more discreet location. The homeowners also got their wish for plenty of bright white lighting and linen storage.
