As newlyweds, our clients wanted to remodel their master bathroom and closet to better cater to their needs as a newly married couple. The layout of both spaces did not function well for them, and they wanted to make the spaces their own. The garden tub didn’t get much use, so they decided to remove the tub and put in a larger more accessible shower.

Examples of materials used:

  • Porcelain stone-like tile on the walls and floor. The tile was used in three different sizes to give dimension while achieving the best function for the areas installed.
  • Onyx shower seat, shower wall caps, and countertops.
  • Kohler & Moen Plumbing fixtures, accessories and lighting.
  • Showplace custom cabinetry.

The Mrs. wanted an area to sit and get ready. Their designer, Laura Powderly, went through several design layouts but in the end, our clients wanted the ease of a walk-in shower. Providing a linen closet for storage was on their wish list as well as a built-in medicine cabinet and better lighting. By removing the tub and relocating the shower, we were able to give them a floor plan that worked for them in this space and give them their requests from their wish list.

We focused on carrying the tile as a wainscot around the bathroom from the shower to the vanity. Laura worked with them to give them the maximum amount of countertop space while maintaining the proper walkway clearance and ample room in the shower.

Our clients wanted to make sure this bathroom would work for them as they got older in their home, we were able to add decorative grab bars that blend in nicely with the bathroom.

Better functionality in the master closet was a must. The clients originally had wire shelves with no ability to slide clothing back and forth. The existing shelving was hung too high and required a step stool to access shelves. There was no wall space to hang and organize her jewelry. In the new design, we installed a custom jewelry organizer on the back wall that complimented the cabinetry in the adjacent master bath. We installed shelving and metal rods in a custom layout and heights to fit their needs.
